One of the highlights of the summer was Sanctuary Runners being given the opportunity to have a trackside view of some of Ireland’s and the world’s top class athletes in action as the official charity partner of the Morton Games in July.

It was the third year Sanctuary Runners has partnered with the elite event, which is expertly organised and hosted by leading Dublin athletics club Clonliffe Harriers, a longtime friend and supporter of Sanctuary Runners.

The 2026 Morton Mile made history as all 16 athletes in the field ran sub-four-minute miles, with Clonliffe’s own Irish Olympian Cathal Doyle taking 4th place in 3.52.26.

A strong contingent of both staff and members of Sanctuary Runners turned out in force at Morton Stadium on the night to spread a blue wave of solidarity, friendship and respect among the over 3,000 strong crowd of spectators, participants and supporters.

Not surprisingly, many also took the opportunity to rub shoulders with running royalty such as Sonia O’Sullivan, who, along with stars of today’s track including two time Nigerian Olympian Chidi Okezie and Ireland’s own speedmeisters Sean Doggett and Bori Akinola, all stopped by our tent to greet our members and offer their support.
