At Sanctuary Runners, our priority is to protect, respect and recognise the importance of your privacy. We are committed to protecting any personal information we obtain about you, whether you are a member, supporter, job applicant, donor, volunteer or simply visiting our website.

About Sanctuary Runners

The Sanctuary Runners was established in Cork in February 2018 by feature writer and broadcaster Graham Clifford and photographer Clare Keogh. Sanctuary Runners is a solidarity-through-sport initiative which uses running, jogging and walking to bring together asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and all Irish residents.  Sanctuary Runners is the data controller (contact details below). This means it determines how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

What is Personal Data?

Personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data. Identification can be by the information alone or in conjunction with any other information in the data controller’s possession or likely to come into such possession. The processing of personal data is governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”) and the Data Protection Act 2018

How do we collect Personal Data ?

We use specific actions on our website to collect personal information. We also collect details when you get in touch with us whether by emailing us, phoning us, texting us, completing a survey or using our online contact form. Sanctuary Runners complies with its obligations under the GDPR by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.

When you contact Sanctuary Runners with an enquiry, sign up to any of our campaigns or online content such as newsletters, complete a survey or engage with Sanctuary Runners via social media channels, we may receive and retain personal information about you.

By submitting your details, you enable Sanctuary Runners (and where applicable any sub-contractors we may use) to provide you with the goods, services, information, activities, or online content you select.

Will Sanctuary Runners share my data with anyone else ?

We will only use your information within Sanctuary Runners for the purposes for which it was obtained. How do we protect your information?

By offering your personal information to us, you are acknowledging that it could be transferred to locations outside of Ireland. This could happen if a server is located in a country outside of the EU . We cannot guarantee that these locations have the same protection laws as we do when it comes to personal data.
