Come along to one of our groups!

There are lots of ways to get involved with Sanctuary Runners – and you don’t need to be a runner to take part! Whether you enjoy walking, organising, chatting, or cheering from the sidelines, there’s a place for you.

You can come along any time to any of our groups, you’ll get a warm welcome. There is no obligation to keep coming, you don’t have to commit to anything, but be prepared, you are likely to want to keep coming back.

Interested in organising a group in your area?

Is this you?

You’re excited about bringing people together and believe that running or walking is a great way to build community.
You might be long settled in your area, new to the locality, or living in direct provision or emergency accommodation.
Most importantly, you have the enthusiasm to help make things happen – and we’ll support you every step of the way.

What’s involved?

Outreach

  • Welcome and encourage people in the community – migrants and locals, including those living in direct provision or emergency accommodation – to join runs or walks
  • Connect with migrant communities and long-standing community groups
  • Build relationships with other organisations in your area to help spread the word

Promotion

  • Share details of group runs or walks through social media, posters, or local noticeboards
  • Help organise group meet-ups and support participation, including arranging lifts where needed
  • Keep the group connected through WhatsApp and other channels

Connection

  • Be part of a wider regional network of Sanctuary Runners groups
  • Share ideas, experiences, and support with others doing similar work

If you’re interested, get in touch and let us know – we’d love to chat and talk you through what’s involved.

If your town or city isn’t listed, you’re very welcome to contact us about starting a group where you live.

If you’re interested in helping organise or lead an existing group, we can put you in touch with the Group Lead. Our groups are always open to more volunteers.
