Ellen becomes Sanctuary Runners’ new Head of Operations

The Sanctuary Runners are delighted to welcome Ellen O’Connor on board as our new Head of Operations.

A Sanctuary Runner herself since the foundation of our group in Limerick, Ellen brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and empathy to the role and we’re overjoyed to see her join us as part of the senior management team.

Ellen has over 20-years of experience working in both the public and private sectors. Within the higher education sector, she has worked in Ireland, Europe and China, where her roles focused on developing international partnerships and support services for international students.

She has worked as a consultant for emerging micro-businesses, focusing on organisational capacity building. Most recently she worked as a Fund Manager with Rethink Ireland, developing and facilitating capacity building programmes for non-profit organisations.

Ellen has a BA in Applied Languages, a MA in Business Management and a MSc in Food Policy.

She said: ‘I’m excited to take up this new role with Sanctuary Runners. I have been part of the Sanctuary Runners in Limerick since 2019 so I know from personal experience what a positive impact the group has on the community. I am looking forward to working with the team to expand our activities in Ireland and internationally.’

And Graham Clifford, CEO of the Sanctuary Runners, added: “Its key to our development and growth that we attract people who can really help us build a strong structure for the future. We’re so thrilled that Ellen will help us in that goal and can’t wait to further develop our solidarity-through-sport movement together thereby creating more groups and building that blue wave.”
