– Solidarity-through-sport movement brings asylum seekers, refugees and the wider Irish public together through running
– This Christmas we are asking people to help purchase running shoes for asylum seekers and refugees
– The public can buy, or donate towards, a new pair of running shoes for a Sanctuary Runner in Direct Provision
Give the gift of running to someone in Direct Provision this Christmas by supporting the Sanctuary Runners’ Christmas Appeal.
With 24-groups across Ireland the Sanctuary Runners bring asylum seekers, refugees and wider Irish public together through running, jogging and walking.
Our movement operates on the principles of solidarity, friendship and respect and throughout Covid19 we have, where and when possible, continued running in pods.
Many asylum seekers feel they cannot join their local group because they don’t have the requisite gear. A pair of running shoes then can change someone’s life as regular exercise in a group can help one’s physical and mental health but also boost self-confidence and enable natural organic positive relationships to develop.
If you can help us this Christmas we would be so very grateful. You can donate €50 to buy a new pair of running shoes or €25 towards the cost of a pair.

When you donate we issue you with an online certificate. This, if you wish, can be given as a Christmas gift to a loved one.
We are very grateful to our partners the Irish Refugee Council for hosting our gift giving page and for their never ending support.
And please contact us if you would like to run, jog or walk with the Sanctuary Runners. We welcome all with open arms.
